 ABOUT Dinky sparrow and stuff:

An autumn day, 2015:

After mulling over this for a good 5 minutes, I couldn't decide what to say about myself. So, I will just borrow something others have said about me: a collection of paradoxes.

If all goes well, I plan to create and post one drawing (sketch, art, or whatever you call it) a day for a year.  I am a bit behind on posting the sketches I do daily, but I will make sure a new one gets posted everyday. Wish me luck!

Why doing this? Because it is fun and challenging. Without formal art training, I struggle a lot with getting things down on paper the way I imagined. Colors don't come out right either. But that's fine. I enjoy looking at them at a later time regardless of the mess they once were. Having a blog tracking all the stuff daily keeps me disciplined. It also provides me the means to re-experience the past.  Another plus is, my endeavor seems to inspire my kids (maybe you too?) to doodle more as well. :)

An autumn night, 2016:

A year has come and gone, just like that. I am happy to say I was able to fulfill my original goal of a sketch a day for a year. At the beginning, I was nervous that I'd run out of things to draw quickly. Thankfully, as time went on, that fear dissipated. What was really lacking was time, rather than ideas. As long as the sun rises and the earth turns, life goes on. That means there's something worth capturing, no matter how insignificant it may be.

Since the daily sketch adventure came to its one year completion, I have been looking for a new purpose and challenge. I started playing around with digital media. There's a learning curve for sure and I haven't been able to devote that much time to it. My postings have been haphazard as I experiment with the new media. Lets see how it goes. However, one thing I know is I very much enjoyed the daily sketches of the past year, so I will strive to continuously do that as much as possible regularly, if not everyday.

Thanks for visiting! I'd love to hear from you.
